Chie's awesome and I think there's a lot of us that can relate to those feels. It's frustrating when all your friends are getting flirted with and you feel like everyone only thinks of you as just 'one-of-the-guys'.

Also, for some reason I have this weird fear that people will mistake me for Maria Torres from Trauma Team, cause I'm black. XD

I had to look up Maria because I've never played Trauma Team XD They do have pretty similar jackets, but also very different hair. If you're okay with wearing a wig and you get one that's really close to her hairstyle, I'm pretty sure people will be able to tell you're Chie!
Also, there's a middle ground between "not cosplaying" and "running around at a con, fully in-character." I'm not sure if you're a tumblr person, but at least there, there are lots of people who focus on stuff like just doing photoshoots, or making short videos and things like that. Do you think you'd feel better just cosplaying from the internet, or using that as a way to work up to going to cons? Finding another Persona 4 cosplayer to go with you might help too, doing it in teams has always made it less scary for me.
