Oh Lord, this totally happened to me. I signed up for a mix-related big bang thing and I actually had to go in search of a second one after I made my choice because the first one was just so bad. And the second one wasn't a lot better, I just powered through and kinda only used the songs vaguely. They're...kinda relevant, theme-wise. >_______> I hope the mixer doesn't get mad at me when it's time to post.

Slightly off-topic, but big bang related.

For a bang I'm participating in, we have to have a beta reader before final posting. I've never used one (I do some freelance editing offline anyway) and don't think that I'd be able to find one in time. What should I do?

Lie.

Okay, that's probably the best advice for this situation.

I've seen some big bangs before and thought "No way in hell was this actually beta'd" so it's probably more common than you'd think. If you're willing to comb it over yourself a couple times I don't think it's a problem worth dropping out for.

LOL, this reminds me of high school, when we had to turn in a rough draft, revised draft, and final draft for English class my junior year. So, what I'd do is type up the final draft, then retype it with deliberate errors, then do it again with slightly fewer errors. :-P

Woah, this sounds like an interesting big bang. Was it for a specific fandom?

I don't think people should sign up for big bangs if they're not willing to suck it up instead of default when they don't like the subject, but hey, that's just me. I'm sure it happens all the time.

What's Reverse Big Bang?

[identity profile] phorenice.livejournal.com 2012-05-06 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Usually, on a Big Bang an author writes a story and gets art created for the story. A Reverse Big Bang works the other way around, starting with the art and a story being written based on the art - though the ones I've seen all involve visual art (drawings, graphics, vids), not "just" fanmixes.
