Saving is a huge part of the Zelda/Link [relationship] dynamic. (Personally I don't ship them but some do.) So if she needed saving less, maybe she wouldn't be the Zelda to your Link. Maybe the Midna or something else like that.

just my thoughts :) You can call your relationship whatever you like, of course. And A+ just for making a Zelda secret; I don't see nearly enough of those! :D

Midna requires help from Link. That is, at first, the only reason she keeps him around. Link usually volunteers to help Zelda. So perhaps Midna is the better choice.

Er...Zelda requires help from Link just as much as Midna does. Just because he gives it voluntarily doesn't make it any less necessary. Also, Midna didn't force Link to help her with nothing in return. First she saved his ass from the shadow monsters by breaking him out of jail when he had no idea what to do, and struck a bargain with him by helping him get what he needed for his quest as well. And as you noted, at first she only keeps him around for her benefit - but their relationship changes over the course of the story into an alliance and at the end Link and Midna work together completely voluntarily to destroy the forces of evil.

Basically I think you are really mis-characterizing Midna if you are trying to imply that she is only a leech.

So... wait, is she a random stranger who asks you for help and you do it? Are you childhood BFFs and she gives you shields and shit as presents? Is she a tsundere pirate who hurls you out of barrels via catapault? Is she a random stranger who you help in the course of saving your fellow villagers? Is she a random stranger you immediately go all blush stickers for and she helps you while you help her? Are you childhood BFFs and she enjoys pushing you off high ledges?

I mean, there's a lot of different dynamics between Link and Zelda, right? ;)
