It doesn't deserve rudeness, no, but I'm not sure it automatically deserves thanks either. And I know that makes me sound like a jerk, but there's an amount of condescension in offering a whole slew of specific suggestions where it isn't asked for in real life and that carries over to fandom for me. It really depends on the environment, though. FF.net kind of automatically encourages it by having reviews instead of comments, for example.
