I have to admit, it's hard to think of a situation where it wouldn't come across as stuck up, probably because I don't see any reason to bring it up at all. Unless the conversation is about the concept of BNFs, I guess. I'm not gonna police how other people talk about themselves but I would probably be a little turned off if someone introduced themselves to me as "So-and-So, the BNF!"

ayrt

I mean in a thread like #8. Is it okay to admit they are considered a "BNF" and reply with their experiences with people approaching them to try and explain their side? Or if nobody should admit that they're a BNF, should they leave the conversation all non-BNFs complaining about BNF behavior because it would be stuck-up to reply saying they are one?

Obvs introducing yourself as "Margaret the BNF" would be stupid, like introducing yourself as "Margaret, also I'm super hot." But what if someone else points to them and calls them a BNF? Should they outright deny it? If they're considered a "BNF" by most of their fandom, isn't it as obviously false-modesty to pretend nobody knows them as it is stuck-up to go around parading the fact?

Sure.
