To be fair, the two turned to each other for comfort during a very emotional time so probably didn't use protection. And Bones wasn't in a relationship of any kind so she had no reason to be on birth control pills.

I've been off bc before myself because I had no reason to be on it the past 3 years. Other people do the same thing.

It can be a waste of money (even though she's loaded) to keep buying it, even when insurance pays for a good chunk of it when one doesn't need it.

As easily as I can see her being pragmatic and taking it to be safe, I can also see her doing the flip side and see it as unnecessary until she knows for sure she may need it.

She was just unfortunately emotionally compromised at that point and they probably didn't think things through very well.

This. And also, no contraceptive is 100% effective. Condoms break, and birth control pills are only something like 95% effective. So there are those instances where they don't work.

Ehm, condoms? I've had some rocky moments, but I never just "forget" about those, especially if I'm not on the pill. And there's always the morning after pill.
