I hate these threads. I keep expanding the comment to see what the comment is that people are responding to, and my computer just freezes up and takes forever to load all the pics and gifs. If LJ still had subjects it would be a big deal, but argh.

The end outcome is I'll just not check General Comments anymore. I was enjoying it for the random Dear Abby-esque threads, but those seem to have stopped anyhow. I'll just stick to the actual secrets and you and all the others can enjoy your threads of pretty pictures.

But people do still make comments like that here. It's not hard to just ignore the picture threads

The problem is I never know which threads are going to be the picture threads. My computer and internet connection are both pretty crappy (loading F!S in the first place takes forever), so instead of getting frustrated when I open a picture thread unknowingly I'd rather just avoid this section all together.

Maybe if picspam anon made a sock account just for the pics, then everyone will be able to see by the username to avoid the thread if they have issues with pics loading or just don't like the pics.

Hm.... I'm not really sure if I want to make a sock account just for this, but do you think it would work for you if I always did have a comment, and pictures replying to that comment? In theory the pictures would then collapse, and you'd have a warning. :)

Wouldn't work unless you were the first person replying to tech's post, otherwise if you just click expand the first comment then the rest will expand along with it.

I'm actually for the sock idea, anon, if this is going to become a regular thing then that wouldn't be too hard to set up.

It's not really a problem, actually. I was afraid it was going to be, and then I realized that I could upload the pictures I want to post to livejournal, and then no matter where I am, if I can find a computer, I can post. I really wish it hadn't taken me that long to figure out, though.

Eh, usually you have a pre-picture comment comment to warn what's beneath, so I'll think you're doing okay wonder animal anon :)

I think theres a way to turn pictures off - so you just get a box/link to click.

I remember using it a while ago when a comm I was on was geting spammed with horrible violent photos.
