I got the feeling that he did those shows with a heavy dose of denial (particularly the "Fai is straight!" BS)

I wish I remembered where I heard it (it's on a con panel video on YouTube, but which one, who knows), someone asked him what he thought of Tamaki being so flirty and clearly infatuated with Haruhi even before he found out she was a girl, and he gave some answer about Tamaki "subconsciously sensing Haruhi's hidden femininity". I LOLed.
