You probably just have a particularly sensitive clit. A lot of women do. Try indirect stimulation, like touching around your clit, but not directly on it. Should work better.

You're not doing it wrong, OP. Sex is different for everyone for different reasons, so what's appealing to one person is off-putting to another.

Not at all. Sensitivity varies. A lot of women can't take direct stimulation at all, while others need lots of very strong direct stimulation to get off. Everyone's different; it's all a matter of experimenting to find out what you like (and don't like).

Nah, you just get off differently. I don't react to having my clitoris directly stimulated and if I want to get ANYTHING out of it, I have to use indirect stimulation and grind on something, clothes-on. Only thing that works, and it's not even stimulating enough to get me even slightly riled up. I get bored after 45 seconds. Besides, direct stimulation can be overwhelming and uncomfortable even at the best of times.

Something that's mindblowing for one person may do nothing for someone else, there's not really any such thing as "doing it wrong". My clit's pretty damn sensitive, but that doesn't mean everyone's is.

I gave up on trying to masturbate for similar reasons. I thought I was weird or something for that, but now I'm fine with it because I know everyone's body works in different ways. I do get curious though and wonder what it feels like to get those "electrifying" sensations that are described in fic.

Fanfic sex can be rather formulaic. There's the concentration on clitoral stimulation in het, and the 1 finger, 2 finger 3, Ikea sex in slash. Fic writers seem to take their guidance in porn writing from other fic writers so differing techniques don't often get much circulation in fanfic.

Just because you don't experience things the way fic portrays it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you, it just means fanfic isn't varied enough.

Hon, there's really no such thing as "doing it wrong" when it comes to your own body. You just need to explore a little and learn what works best for you. As others have suggested, indirect stimulation may work--humping a pillow, say, or touching yourself while clothed or covered.
