Notes:

If you or anyone you know in fandom writes poetry, check this out. You may be being plagiarized. Note: Please do NOT hassle the publishing company itself. They've agreed to pull the book; we're waiting for it to come down from all the eBook sites. We still don't know the entire contents of the book, though - or who else has been stolen from (there is a clear fandom-author connection, however).

Cool cool cool. Thanks for the response. I don't think they have clever word play. I think they use words like sounds. Not complete nonsensical, but with really no deep inner meaning, just mood creating and you get to take what you want from them. I like a couple bands like that. Rasputina is one, very early Steve Harley is another.

" it also makes me feel increasingly annoyed and frustrated due to the fact that no matter what I listen to of theirs, I cannot find the secret awesome thing that acts as a beacon of nerd enlightenment."

It's not. Who told you that? It's just fun. Stupid still fun. I love yowling "Youth culture......youuuuth culture. Youth culture killed my dog,, and I don't think it's fair. And his suicide, can be justified, By the tastemakers, how they cried and cried and so..." It's the music pushing the lyrics and the lyrics are sort of fun too.

"In the nightgown of the sullen moon
How the windows lean into the room
In the nightgown of the sullen moon..."

Sing it yourself. Catchy. Not deep, just sort of lovely and catchy. That's enough, especially considering I'd say the great percentage of the "nerds" you are talking about probably discovered this band as children or teens. That greatly helps engender a sense of reverence.

Hope any of that made sense. Thanks for playing the "talk about music" game!
