You enjoy being visually stimulated and/or you're a visual person? That sounds pretty clean-cut to me? With me, it depends on my mood whether I want to browse art or read fic. I'm not really interested in fanmixes and rarely watch fanvids.

I love both, if they're well done. Sadly there is a distinct dearth of good fic for my current obsession and a piece of fan art (no matter how good) sadly occupies much less time than a fic would, so I'm left somewhat unsatisfied.

There's nothing wrong with that.

I feel the same way. I only ever bother with fan-art and if the fandom I'm in love with has none or little (because it's obscure, tiny, or because it's live-action or whatever) I just don't bother and get my fandom squees out of flailing with friends. That said, I love reading -- reading is one of my major hobbies. I devour novels like nothing else on earth. However, I don't read fanfiction. I write it on occasion, but I don't seek it out and I don't bother with it unless it's by one particular friend. As long as you don't start frothing at the mouth and going on about how shit all fanfiction ever is or something (which it's not, but that doesn't make me like it any more) then not liking something is perfectly all right.

I also don't like fanmixes or fan videos. I kind of don't understand the point in them. Fandom is one thing, but musical taste as well? Waaay too broad and diverse an area of taste I think. It's a different strokes thing, I think.

I'm kinda half-and-half on this. On one hand, I like reading fanfiction and enjoy imagining the worlds and scenes the creators have put to paper (or the web). On the other hand, a picture is worth a thousand words, and there really is something about seeing a piece of fanart that can convey the same feelings and emotions like a well-written fanfic.

You're not alone. I don't really have time for fic, but I love fanart. I can stare at good fan art on my tumblr all day. However, i can write fic when the muses strike while I have absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever so I usually contribute written fills on memes and so on.

I'm with you, OP. I've never been able to enjoy fic. And really, as long as you aren't saying other people shouldn't enjoy it either than I don't see any problem with that and I doubt your friends would either.
Though my friends still occasionally send me links to "good fanfics" to try and "convert" me, lol.

Anime fandoms are basically nothing but horrible fic made up for with glorious, plentiful fanart, so try giving that a shot. Maybe learn how to navigate Pixiv.

I love fanart and fanfic, but I cannot get into fanvids at all. In fact, seeing one almost makes me cringe for some stupid reason. I have this same reaction to photomanips as well.

We all have different things that float our boat. Don't sweat it. Though you will have to be clear that you don't read fic ever when you ask for recs.

Nothing wrong with that. I personally like fanfiction but hate fanvids, no matter how well done they are, 20 seconds in I'm already bored to death.
