But at the same time, something about the SanSan pairing is so creepy to me. I feel the same about people who ship Littlefinger/Sansa, he has a creepy obsession with her because she reminds him of Cat and its just....dnw D:

Sandor in the books is ~28 while Sansa in the books is ~12 (in the show Sansa is closer to 15 and Sandor is ... some age? Idk. The actor who plays him is 43 though). That is a MUCH bigger difference and it impacts the way that their characters interact and creates a power imbalance that isn't there between Gendry and Arya.
And like Sansa/Sandor is much closer to Littlefinger/Sansa than it is to Arya/Gendry just in terms of the way that the men view Sansa as representing an ideal instead of Sansa being an actual person. Sandor claims to not believe in knights, but he sees Sansa as this lady who needs his protection. He calls her little bird which, to me, dehumanizes her. Sansa becomes this beautiful and delicate OBJECT that needs his protection. He doesn't really know her, but he loves her because she represents this ideal that feeds into this desire he has deep down to be a knight and a hero even though he tries to reject that.
And then for Sansa, she's still basically a kid and she spends months in King's Landing being physically and emotionally abused. Sandor is one of very few people who are not actively trying to her hurt, so she latches onto him as a savior and protector figure and builds him up in her mind to be something that he's not.
It's really messed up.

Littlefinger/Sansa is the worst for me.

But that's why I like it. It's supremely messed-up!
Enjoying my trip to Hell, thanks.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 05:45 am (UTC)(link)I have no illusions about the wrongness (that's why I post anonymously out of shame) but damn, that's like the only sansa pairing that does it for me. granted it usually involves her becoming morally bankrupt as well, but still
