I don't get the Dean hate when it comes to Castiel. It seems no matter what Castiel does, he's golden. Even if it is some rotten and selfish stuff.

Yes, he raised Dean from Hell. But was it because it was Dean and Castiel care for him? Nope, Castiel didn't want the seal to be broken. Yes, he raised Sam from Hell but he raised him broken and didn't admit it that he did it. Meanwhile, the whole time he had been lying to Dean's face about everything. And when Dean confronts Castiel, Castiel said he couldn't talk to Dean because Dean never really listened. What? How hard is it to grab your close friend by the shoulders and tell him, "I am up shitcreek, pal. My brothers and sister are fighting. My big brother is trying to restart the Apocalypse. And everyone is turning to me to do something about him. Not mention Crowley is being the literal devil on shoulder. HELP ME, DEAN!" Then Castiel teams up with not just any old Demon but the new King of Hell. Then when Castiel is caught, what does he do? He breaks Sam's wall not knowing what damage it will cause. And this is supposedly someone Castiel cares about. Hasn't Castiel learned anything, you mess with Sam, you mess with Dean.

And I am not even going to start on how he treats his own family. Even the one's supposedly on his side. What type of loving, good guy can so easily wipe out his family without any guilt. Hell, even Lucifer felt regret over killing Gabriel. And he's the Prince of Darkness.

All I'm seeing is 'Waaahhhhaaaa, someone doesn't think Dean is perfect and actually likes Cas... whaaaaa'.

Funny, 'cause all I'm seeing is "waaahaaaa someone doesn't think Cas is perfect and actually likes Dean...whaa."

Weird.

Did you know that Castiel also shits in the Winchester's cereal every morning? I know, right, he's such a bitch.

most of the people i've seen who've had issues with dean's treatment of cas fully acknowledge that castiel isn't blameless. for me, how dean's just been treating castiel like he's nothing more than a tool is part of what's soured his character for me. his self-righteousness, general hypocrisy (working with said king of hell himself, shooting kailey frye and then letting the witches who were murdering over a lovers tiff get away, etc) and the show's validation of it all like he and sam are the exemplars of morality here are the main reasons. now i haven't watched the later half of S6 because i'm not that much of a masochist, but no, i don't think dean really listened, he rarely ever does. i honestly don't know what dean (and sam) could have even done to help with a civil war in heaven in the first place.

i'm willing to bet the archangels all had closer relationships with each other than the grunt soldiers did, even with the connected nature of the host.

disjointed thoughts, but i'm tired of looking at this.

I haven't seen anyone say that Cas is blameless. The issue many of us have is that canon tries to tell us that Dean is blameless and that Cas is completely at fault for everything. And how some of the stuff Cas did that he is blamed for is the same things Sam and Dean have done (making a deal with Crowley for one) and yet they are blameless and he is completely at fault.

OMG how dare Castiel saved Dean from hell for personal (heaven's) reasons? He should have done it for his intense admiration of this human he had never met. And how dare he saved Sam when he couldn't do it right? I bet he intentionally left his soul there to make life miserable for the brothers. He should've totes left him there. And how dare he tried to stop Raphael from bringing on the second apocalypse without first checking with Dean and explaining the whole shebang to him because that's totally what Dean does all the time, especially when he needs Castiel's help. And Castiel shouldn't have cared at all that Dean was living a peaceful life with his surrogate family. He should've crashed in and told him everything and demanded Dean help him. How selfish of him to leave Dean alone. And OMG teaming up with Crowley??? The King of Hell!!! How could he? Didn't he notice that the boys NEVER EVER involved Crowley in ANY of their plans. What a traitor.

Don't get me even started on how he took Sam's hell-pain onto himself, or diverted Hester's attention when she threatened Dean or how he gave his blood unquestioningly to Dean at the end. What a total douchebag.

/sarcasm

da

Dude, I totally agree with you and the Cas-apologists can fuck right off. Castiel, much as I love the guy, SCREWED UP. And I mean big time! Dean wasn't blameless either but let it just be said that between Sam, Dean, and Castiel Dean is the only one who hasn't by his immediate and direct actions let some sort of primordial force of evil into the world, all in the name of "saving" everyone. So is Dean blameless? No, of course not. One of the reasons I hated S6 was because it felt so damned OOC for Dean to ignore the whole rising apocalypse thing. But Castiel was at fault there. And anyway, I don't think Dean really cares about Castiel releasing the Leviathans, it's that Castiel broke Sam's mind.

Which, yeah. Dean holding a grudge because someone hurts Sam to that extent? GO FIGURE.

IDK, I've just seen SO MUCH Dean bashing over how he treated Cas and for not forgiving him right away and I'm kind of, well, yeah, have you SEEN his character? If he doesn't repress repress repress then he holds a grudge FOREVER. He still hasn't forgiven John ffs! Is it any surprise at all that he isn't over Castiel BREAKING SAM'S MIND when it's only been a year and Sam spent the vast majority of that year slowly degenerating into madness and almost died from it?
