With things like this, I tend to assume it's more of a bitterness towards the idea in general. he's one of the more popular new CLAMP characters, and too often you see people claiming he and Holic are CLAMPs best without ever having read anything older, better, etc, and he's sort of a nice bucket for their hate. Rather how a lot of Godchild fans have an undue hatred for Black Butler, not because it's necessarily bad, but because GC is so often dismissed without thought to it.

That makes sense, actually. I feel the same way sometimes when people say the later Final Fantasies are the best without ever having tried the PSX ones, simply because of system. *unrelated comment is unrelated*

With me, I think Tokyo Babylon and X-1999 were my favorites, because they're what attracted me to CLAMP in the first place. I read xxxHolic and TRC, hoping CLAMP would actually finish X, and slightly excited to have Kamui (and Subaru) cameo in TRC. I can understand being annoyed with Watanuki for that reason, but compared to Kamui and Subaru's temperaments, I liked that he was lighthearted and silly.

I dunno. I can see being bothered, but when I loved CLAMP, I love almost all of it, new and old. Ironically, it's only after they ended Holic the way they did that I decided I wasn't too interested in keeping up with them anymore.

I can understand it too; I've felt a few dollops of it. It kinda peturbes me to see a CLAMP thread going where they're not talking about anything but Tsubasa :/

Hmm...I never cared fr Holic, but I did read Tsubasa for a while. I loved Fai to bitty bitty bits, but after the Tokyo Revelations arc, and once I realized Yue was never going to make an appearance, I sorta went MEH and couldn't find the will to get into anything new.

Former die-hard CLAMP stan here. Read the entirety of Tsubasa purely for Fye, but really wasn't keen on anything else. (Though I nearly died of fangirl glee at Eagle's appearance.) But I'm totally with you - I don't expect things to be all old-school, or for everyone to know every series, but it's a shame that CLAMP discussion seems to be mostly Tsubasa/xxxHolic, with very little response to attempts to go into MKR, Tokyo Babylon, X (beyond why isn't it finished), all that.

And good luck finding anybody who wants to talk RG Veda or Duklyon or anything like that. :\

I use to be on Gaia a lot. Like, A LOT, and I was known as the resident X fangirl. I got several people to read it, and Tokyo Babylon, and I only found one person who didn't like them (and he only disliked X, for its slow pick-up) I had a 200+ page on those two series going at one time. Unfortunately, it was only a handful of people who posted, whereas a Tsubasa thread could go on and on with all sorts of new people popping in.

It's like, Damn it! I wanna talk about the series these characters came from!

I always preferred Holic to Tsubasa, idk why. I did love Fai, though, and I completely understand your frustrations. *shakes fist at CLAMP* I'm scared to read Drug and Drop now. :C
