It's just the way fandom rolls. The plot is actually good (the first 5 seasons at least, the last two are subject of debate) so there isn't anything to talk about there. I'd think you should've been more worried if there was a lot of plot debate here because it would mean there's something wrong with it that makes people dig through it.

Think of The Hunger Games, or A:TLAB. Both have solid stories that are high quality. Yet the fandoms endlessly debate about ships and who should date the main girl and all that crap. I was never involved with the Harry Potter fandom but I'm suspecting it's the same. No one argues whether J.K.Rolling should've changed a plot twist or altered one of the books' endings because the story is just fine the way it is. So they expend their energy talking about relationships, most of which don't even exist in canon.

Let me add my agreement to just about everything.

Although, there definitely was wank about JKR's ending. It made people so upset.
