I felt the same when I had to leave my cat with my parents when I moved, he was about 12 at the time, and I was moving onto a busy street, and he was an outdoor cat that I could never have made stay inside (he needed his weekly squirrel allotment in his diet, and there was no way I was getting him those). But I tried to take some comfort in that he also lived with my parents most of his life, and he was in his home. Try to take comfort that he's not in a strange new place, and with people he does know and love. Even as hard as it is
Remember, dogs are the most forgiving when it comes to those they love. Missing you yes, but love is what your dog has in her heart.
