God, I love smarties. My grandparents sometimes send me some. When I went to Canda, they even had had smarties McFlurries. It was very exciting

Y'all have the best candy up there. I keep wanting to ask my boyfriend to send me Coffee Crisp bars in a care package.

Ketchup chips are also wondrous and delicious.

THIS THREAD IS NOW ABOUT AWESOME CANADIAN FOOD~

[identity profile] errantnarwhal.livejournal.com 2012-05-17 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
haha, I live in Texas. I have to get delicious Canadian stuff sent to me :(

But speaking of food, I did love that almost EVERY SINGLE restaurant I went to up there served perogies (I've only ever seen them packaged in Texas). Shit's good.

I think the weirdest thing about Canada was that their Corn Pops are different. I remember when we were staying at my (step)grandparent's house in Manitoba, my dad poured some into his bowl and he was totally aghast. they're still good though

Having been born/raised in/transplanted from Texas I would trade you every perogie avail in the American Great Lakes region for some Chuy's and some Amy's ice cream. ♥

[identity profile] errantnarwhal.livejournal.com 2012-05-17 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, idk. Amy's ice cream is pretty good, I don't know if I could give it up

[identity profile] errantnarwhal.livejournal.com 2012-05-17 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
You can have Chuy's though!

I'll UPS that bitch right over

[identity profile] leikomgwtfbbq.livejournal.com 2012-05-17 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Pierogies are amazing. Definitely one of my favorite foods. Boyfriend makes them for me, with a dab of sour cream, cooked cabbage, onions, and little chunks of bacon cooked to perfection!

Mmmm, I'm super hungry now

Different how? Now I want to try some American Corn Pops for sensory evaluation comparisons lol.

[identity profile] errantnarwhal.livejournal.com 2012-05-17 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
They're small, ball shaped, and crunchier. imo they taste kind of like kix cereal, but just not quite.

They sound tasty! Hopefully I'll get to try them someday.

Hmm... awesome Canadian food...

Well, I know we invented instant mashed potatoes...? Also, Prairie oysters.

W/e, poutine, Coffee Crisp, and maple syrup make up for everything else.

Well, I know we invented instant mashed potatoes...?

This alone is worth learning the Canadian national anthem for

Wait wait, you guys don't have ketchup chips? Damn. I love those things.

[identity profile] errantnarwhal.livejournal.com 2012-05-17 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen them around in Walmart sometimes, but they definitely aren't as big of a thing here. Neither are the salt and vinegar chips (for some reason almost every Canadian I know loves those things. Most people I know in Texas are kind of meh about them)

[identity profile] leikomgwtfbbq.livejournal.com 2012-05-17 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Salt and vinegar chips are pretty popular where I live. Dad loves 'em. But we don't have ketchup chips this far south, or at least none that I've seen (and I scour the chips aisle every time I go to a store looking for them!)

I was not even aware of the fact that smarties came like that until this thread. Those sound delicious.
