(Anonymous) 2012-05-18 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)I accept that it's problematic to depict non-white characters as white, and probably will be for at least a few more centuries. (Please don't tell me it will never be acceptable. I have to believe we will eventually get to a point where it's no more important than hair color, or lose all faith in humanity. Not now, not in ten years, but sometime.)
What really gets me, besides the vitriol, is that incorrect skin tone is deemed a crime against humanity when it's really hard to do it right. I've never been able to depict my own skin tone correctly. Why attribute to malice things which can easily, easily be explained by inexperience or incompetence?
Fortunately for me, my artistic abilities end at stick figures anyway.
