Uh.... what?

Is this Aspen? I mean, okay, that's probably wrong, but if it is you, then...no, I haven't noticed any such thing.

As authors, we're emotionally linked to our story. If we're stuck in the middle of a scene, and we write a weak (in our opinion) solution, we're not going to feel emotionally connected to that part of the story.

However, readers have no such emotional link, and often will not see any change in our writing.

My advice would be to write the scene as it's supposed to be, whether or not you like it, leave it there for a few days while you work on the other parts, then go back and edit it.

That sounds like perfectly good advice to me.

This so much.

Lots of readers (who don't write) don't really understand what writers call "writer's block". But boy do writer's feel it! That said, anything you write when you're in a slump will feel shitty, so letting it sit for a few days without even THINKING about it definitely helps you look at what you've written with a whole new perspective! I know I've gone back and been pleasantly surprised by things I thought were horrible when I actually wrote them.

I'm a bit confused that this really even needs to be a secret? I think most people understand that writer's block exists.
