Plus, he went out like a boss. I mean, seriously, in all manners, absolutely boss-like.

The best thing is, him coming back doesn't even have to be a happy fix-it that would "cheapen" his death. If anything, Fury lying about Coulson should be the "push" the Avengers need to leave SHIELD. So it would do what any good plot device needs to do in a story--create conflict.

My favorite theory (aside from nicked a lung, took awhile to recover, everything's pretty aces now) is Coulson was an android all along. He just legitimately thought he was done when Fury got there.

This. Like, what an amazingly badass death. What a satisfying way to go. That would remain badass and satisfying even if he comes back. I would love for Fury manipulating his death to get them to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. Like, totally my dream for Avengers 2, and I'll be disappointed if it's not brought up.

I hadn't thought of it (well, beyond vaguely 'Life model decoy maybe?'), but being an android all along would be kind of amazing. DUDE what if there's a factory full of Coulsons somewhere? Love.
