I'm so glad about everything that happened since. Why did her father throw her out the window in the first place?

OP again. I don't remember the particulars of the reason in this instance. Usually [the less egregious instances - as this was by far the most severe - though I certainly don't mean to minimize any sort of physical abuse] were due to things like not having her room clean or getting in trouble at school. ...I think this one may have had something to do with her wanting to watch the Beatles though.

Of course, going deeper than that, you could say the true why was that my grandfather had also been abused, and probably his father before him. So, while not a justification, it was certainly a root.
