I agree completely. My friend started me off on Death Note, and she has a big issue with spoilers. She wouldn't tell me ANYTHING even if I begged. Then her boyfriend went and ruined most of the ending for me just because I shipped a yaoi pairing.

Why can't people just let someone decide for themselves? If they don't want the spoilers, they shouldn't have to have it forced onto them.

I always ask first, even if I'm dying of excitement and NEED to talk about it. I'll just go talk to someone else who already knows.

And I'm really sorry about that -- I would HATE HATE HATE if it had happened to me. The shock factor was probably the best part.
