Yeah, the politics of labels in the LGBT community is really annoyingly semantic. "Well, I'm PANsexual, not BIsexual, because I don't want to support the gender binary!"

So even though those are the terms that apply to me, I just say I'm queer to stay out of all the arguments. And then people look at me like, "does that mean you like guys too, or just girls...?" but are usually too polite to ask.

Thank for the bit about "Sherlocked." Cheesiest thing written on the show thus far. And the fact that Sherlock didn't get it until the last act made him seem like a fool. The password was too obvious and there couldn't be any other choice given the storyline.

If Sherlock is supposed to be the smartest person in the room, write him as the smartest person in the room.

it's okay i think most people thought it was just a fun thing UwU

Nooooooooo. Noooooooooooooooooo.

This makes me so sad, for some reason that I can't even really articulate. It's one of those things that makes you feel the whole darn universe is kind of a shitty, lonely place. Just makes you go "nooooooooo."

Sunt lacrimae rerum, et mentem Star Wars tangunt.

"quality fandoms like SPN"

lol

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Right... because posting something concerning LGBT anything wasn't going to get a long and/or argumentative thread around here?

(and that's an observation, not a judgment.)

This times infinity. You took the words right out of my mouth!

*squints*
*has mind blown*

Oh God, that's awesome! She went to my college, I have to fangirl her, plus that book is awesome. I've only tried making a few little things out of it, but the chocolate mouse turns out sooooooo good.

This reminds me of the time when me and my boyfriend first started having sex and I kept accidentally elbowing him in the face. Not enough for a black eye but still~! :(

I don't know much about Australian cinema so correct me if I'm wrong, but international box office is a huge thing for almost any country, including US cinema.

I don't know if this is true for other anglophone countries, but it's not for most non-anglophone ones. There are plenty of countries where just breaking into the international market is considered a huge success, regardless of how much the film makes in the end.

They can all go and like a character and fangirl about it. That I have no problems and nor did I get an impression that OP does either. But when other characters get bashed because of it and all the facts and logic is forgotten it really gets DAMN annoying.

[identity profile] stalker-anon.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
In fact nitpicking can be pretty damn fun.

Yes!
(Now I need more friends to do it with, because most of my friends won't do that. And my sister (who would usually be the best candidate for that sort of things) feels that pointing out flaws in something she likes lower her enjoyment of said thing.)

IA, and there's also the issue of authors bawwwing on ffrants if you dare to not love every single word of their literary genius.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I absolutely love getting reviews, but I'll take a kudos/story alert/whatever as a huge compliment. It's one of the things I don't like so much about LJ - unless someone leaves you a comment, you don't know if they liked your fic (unless there's a notification thing I unknowingly have turned off).
So if I post something on LJ and it gets 10 reviews, then I post it on FF.net it might get 10 reviews but it might also get 20 story alerts and favourites from different people. So I feel happier that more people like my work.

Crying bitter tears of jealousy; that Art of Animation suite sounds AMAZING. Have a great time!

There is nothing more immature is an adult who thinks there's things you can't enjoy as a kid as an adult. As CS Lewis said: when I became an adult, I put away all of my childish things, including the desire to like an adult.

I think Magic Kingdom is balls, but Disney World is a place people can at release their inner kid. Shit, my late uncle came with us the first time my family went and he was 19 going on 20 at the time and he fucking loved it (and made me sick on the spinning teacup rides).

Life is too fucking short limiting yourself on shit like that.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That was my immediate thought.

Did anyone honestly think K/S was going to become canon in America? Honestly? I would have preferred if everyone was single, they developed the characters and friendships and then decided ships, which they don't even have to do, based on chemistry. There's nothing more painful than a couple who has no chemistry (although I think S/U do).

But seriously, who was saying K/S was going to happen, as more than bromance, in the second film? You didn't need to find the statement to know it wasn't going to happen. There's too much blatant homophobia in America for a producer to risk that. Maybe when people get a clue.

people are terrible judgmental pricks (especially on the internet). this is a pretty comprehensible principle about the world imo.

Surprisingly I didn't come out of it slashing anything too much, just shipping Natasha/Bruce like burning and finding out that it's an unpopular ship.

ME TOO. Do you happen to have any recs?

Either you are a snob or you live in Orlando. Living there would make anyone anti-Disney thanks to the tourists.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
This. There is absolutely nothing more annoying than this.
