just haven't seen very many action-adventure kids shows.

I wasn't aware they were in enormous abundance. Recs?

Apparently, Green Lantern: The Animated Series is pretty good. There's also Teen Titans, Thundercats, Oban Star Racers and Young Justice! They're the only ones I have off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more.
Plus, plenty of animes are action packed and still suitable for children.

(NAYRT, I should have mentioned that)

Ah. I'm not into most animated cartoons derived from comics or 80's nostalgia. I do watch a few animes, but Japan seems to feel less limited in terms of what it can output for kids, and so it feels less remarkable to come across an animated kids show that pushes the boundaries of 'for kids'. Are there other Western shows for kids that feature fictional politics in a similar way to Legend of Korra?

Mmm, I'm not sure if they were all for kids but:
- The Legend of Calamity Jane
- Redwall (really amazing show)
- Code Lyoko, maybe.

Oldies but goldies: Ulysses 31 and The Mysterious Cities of Gold (French and Japanese co-productions). They were a huge hit in Europe.

Mysterious Cities of Gold! I remember that. Good show, and an earworm of an intro.

Would you believe that Evangelion is actually intended for children? If that's not pushin' the boundaries, idk what is. (But hey, different cultures, different standards. Though even in Japan that series is pretty risque for a Shonen)

As is Now and Then, Here and There.
