01. In my experience, I like my online (and convention) friends better because we actually have things in common. I don't even know what to talk about with my RL friends anymore.

18. Sort of agree. I love anime, but I love other stuff, too, and I wish I didn't feel like I'd be judged for actually watching -gasp- American animation. Neither is particularly superior to the other, imho, there are good and bad shows regardless of where a show comes from or who made it. (All those pictured, though? Good stuff.)

20. Growing is good. I've had to deal with enough crap from people over what I like and I've learned that you can't let it bother you - enjoy yourself. Be happy. The people who really care are going to stick by you no matter what fandom you're in.

21. I think it's awesome. XD

OP here. I really appreciate the sentiment.

I slowly feel like it turning that way too for me and I thought I was crazy for thinking of it in that way also! I AM NOT ALONE.

1. Me too. Doesn't help that most of my friends in rl are away at college(or not even in this country anymore), busy with their married lives, or busy with work. So...having friends to talk to online is much better than awkward, once every few months or even less, meetings with old friends that I really have little in common with anymore.

I'm not saying don't talk to your friends online, but it makes me sad when people purposefully skip out on social activity that their friends invited them to participate in. It takes two to lose touch, and I wasn't blaming anyone, but it's good to have a life outside of fandom too.

Ah, I don't skip out on social activity with my rl friends, if that's what you mean. There's no one calling me to say hi, and vice versa, because the bonds between all of us didn't stay so strong once we got out of high school.

It's not that we haven't gotten together a few times, when schedules have allowed it, but people change.

Is that because you don't hang out with them as much anymore? I know that it takes two to lose touch, but I'm sure there'd always be something you can find in common if both of you put in the effort. ^_^

Sort of. Most of us have moved away by now and I was never very close in the first place with the people that are left. It's awkward.

I'm sorry. Maybe those who moved away can be your online friends now? I have a friend who did this. ^~
