Agreed - all friends are important for different reasons. However, to be fair, in some cases the situation might
be that the person doesn't have true friends IRL. There's a difference between friends who call you because
they don't have a boyfriend at the moment and need something to do, and friends who actually call because they like
you. Some people feel they have more of those online than in real life, even when online friends can be just as fickle.

Thanks. I do have to admit it's a bit of a personal topic for me, because I was once one of those teens who felt like the online world was more willing to lend a hand. However, now I know both types of friends can be equally loyal and equally fickle - it's not where you go, it's who you mingle with.

I get this. ^_^ But when people do have genuine friends who love them and ignore them for fandom, I'm a bit disappointed in them.

Oh, I know, I'm just stating the other side. Yes, ditching good friends isn't right. But not all of those secrets specifically said "they are the best friends I've ever had but I ditch them for fandom." So I agree with your point, but I just think you have to keep in mind that for some people, fandom friends are the only true friends they've got. (However, yes, it is sad when people ditch the real world in general.)
