Realistically, there isn't enough basis to agree with him. I'm non-religious but I do believe in a creator. I believe that there is a god out there of some sort but he's a bit of a sadist.
Yes, Kira was more effective. He got rid of most crime and wars. The flaw in his ruling was that people started taking it into their own hands on who deserved to live and who didn't. Take the police for shooting the shit out of Matt for instance. What if this were to happen in other countries where laws are more strict and oppressive? There are places where you can get your hand chopped off for stealing. There are places where men have more rights than women.
Does Kira have the power to change that? Or does he just want to get rid of crime in general, no matter what country or what laws they're under? How does he judge people from countries with lax drug laws?
In a way, he did become god - a very real one. I'm probably reading too much into this but I just wanted to say that I only agree with him to some extent. He would have my full support if I got to know his ideals a little better. We got a little taste of it when he was comparing his and Mikami's ideals.
