I also don't want to find out, but for different reasons. After the mess of ATLOK, I have trouble believing that whatever Bryke would come up with for Azula would work for me.

Couldn't agree more.

People already have their headcanon for Azula, and she's quite possibly the most divisive character of the franchise. You have people who adamantly support redemption for her and those who are just as adamantly against it. Making her fate canon would cause the fandom to implode on itself.
