I woudlnt' risk it.

Now, that's not generally a popular opinion, but bear me out.

You said you THINK you could fall for her. That means you haven't actually fallen for them yet. The thing is... if it's that deep? You probably woudln't be able to help yourself. You'd be in love irregardless of your intentions.

Now maybe that phrase wasn't so accurate for you, and you do mean you are already in it deep.

Then you gotta weigh the risk versus the reward. But if you aren't sure, then I can tell you from personal experience that it can ruin the friendship. I lost a good friend because it turns out that's the relationship we should have had. It sucks really hard when that happens. Now, hindsight is 20/20, and there are circumstances when you should absolutely do it!

But don't do it for a maybe. Do it because you KNOW you want this person.

Pretty much all of this. Feelings can tend to make things awkward, especially if they're not reciprocated or one person feels more strongly about the other.

I've seen many a 'fandom romance' go awry. And I recently lost a friend who continually had feelings for me even though I had told her that I didn't feel the same way. (There were other complications in addition to the romantic feelings as well, it wasn't just that.) So it just gets... weird.

Depending on the friendship, sometimes it's less ruined if you're honest about it than if you keep it a secret. I've lost friends because not talking about it made everything awkward, and I've kept friends that I liked (but who didn't reciprocate) because we were able to talk about it like adults and be considerate of each other's feelings.

I mean, yes, dating and then having it turn out "oops, we should have stayed friends" can suck, but that's a possibility every time you date someone, not just with fandom. If people just talked to each other, they'd end up okay.
