I've never watched... Mainly because part of my brain can't match up 'Dr. Carter' with end of the world/invasion type scenarios. ;)

(However I think your secret is really attractively laid out OP.)

The series had potential, but too much talking, not enough alien-shooting. I ragequit The Walking Dead for the same reason.

But the show is about people surviving an alien invasion.

Not about kicking alien ass 90% of the time.

With all the children and not having too many people or supplies, fighting aliens 90% of the time would be a bad idea.

it takes special skill to have a show about an alien invasion be that boring, there's that. maybe it'll pick up, lots of shows have shitty first seasons :/

It is quite the skill. I'm not bothering with Season 2 - I've had enough walking and talking in corridors to last me a lifetime. I think they should have advertised that bit, not the alien bits. I'm content with watching the ads from season 2, because they're the bits in between the talking.

And if it's a show about people surviving alien attacks, then it still fails when the characters are radically silly and inconsistent. If something is urgent, it would be nice *not* to have three hours of corridor walking and talking before the urgency is actually felt by the characters.

I don't think it sucks. I don't think season 1 lived up to its potential, but I don't think it sucked. I'm hopeful for season 2. I'll probably stick with it all the way through even if it hasn't improved, because I need scifi in my life, even mediocre scifi, but I'm hopeful that they can improve on season 1.
