Gonna be totally honest and admit I could probably count the number of pictures I've seen of Kristen Stewart (outside of Twilight, anyway) using both hands, but I've heard a frankly alarming amount of insults about her looks, and honestly...she's not unattractive. The picture itself is all kinds of ridiculous for reasons you've already explained, but imo she does look conventionally pretty.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, me neither -- don't think I've ever even seen a movie with her (I do wanna watch The Runaways someday, though!). And I agree with you; she's definitely not ugly! Not my personal idea of attractive, sure, but the mockery of her looks is just silly... very much the "cool" thing to do.

I haven't either so it wouldn't be right for me to comment on her acting skills, but as far as looks go...she's not bad. She's not my type either, but I have no problem saying she looks good. *shrugs* You know people on the internet though...

I just watched "The Runaways" two days ago, and holy SHIT it is amazing. I love it. And I liked "Snow White and the Huntsman". It just seems like people have made up their mind about her based on "Twilight" (let's be real, that is NOT good source material, but if someone offered me a bajillion bucks to do a shitty movie, I'd take it), the fact she "never smiles" (which ... what? No, I've seen a ton of pictures of her smiling), and the fact she's "awkward" (cause the rest of us aren't, right? GMAFB).

Don't get me wrong, "Twilight" is terrible, but Kristen Stewart does not deserve all the hate she gets.

I think this girl I knew put it best:

"It's not that she isn't pretty. She is. But she's pretty in this vague, generic way that you'd see dozens of times at the mall. That wouldn't be bad except they put her in a movie in which she is supposed to be prettier than Charlize Theron. I'm sorry, but in what universe is Kristen Stewart prettier than Charlize Theron?"

Uh, I thought in the movie her being 'fairer' than Charlize was more metaphorical than anything? That it was what was 'inside' that counted? Granted, I haven't seen the movie yet, but that's what I took away from the trailer/premise.

From a purely physical standpoint though, very few people in the world are as good looking as Charlize Theron. At least imo, so...honestly I'm not sure they could have found someone physically more attractive.

well, to each their own obviously, i think charlize theron is one of the most bland looking people alive. i would never in a million years buy that she is 'fairest in the land'. any land. granted, i feel similarly about kristen stewart, though i do think she's prettier than theron.

That's okay too, though I don't agree. We're all entitled to our opinions!

I can't speak specifically for the movie - but going by what it's based on [and since it's kinda a big plot point, I assume it's still there], it's not *just* about what's on the inside - there's also a pretty big thing about Snow White growing into her beauty while the Queen gets older. Point in fact, that's kinda what drives her over the edge.

As for finding someone as physically attractive...maybe, maybe not. But they *could* have found someone who is as generically attractive KS.

Since age hasn't lessened Charlize's looks in the least (again, imo), that's a bit ironic. Don't really understand why age would be that big a factor since she's still very physically attractive (both Charlize and the Queen from the Disney version, which is the one I know) but...it isn't my story.

I think they could've found someone more attractive than her as well, but they apparently didn't want someone else, so...it is what it is, even if it doesn't make sense to everyone.

I saw the movie, and they age Charlize in scenes where she is losing her power and it does make her unattractive.

Ah, okay. That makes more sense then, thanks!

Speaking as one of the few people (apparently) who actually HAS seen the movie - the whole 'fairest in the land' thing is absolutely based on an interior rather than exterior beauty. While that may not be the overtones of the original fairy tale, I think it's safe to say that in Snow White and the Huntsman, the purity of her heart is really what makes her 'fairer'. (And even then - SPOILERS... kind of... -, her purity isn't actually a threat to the queen's beauty, but rather a threat to her power. Essentially it's more the idea of lawful good being the only thing capable of defeating evil as opposed to pure beauty versus aging beauty.)
