So, anyone care to explain what this is?

An anime manga thing called Gunslinger Girl. And I hate the fact that I actually know that. Creepy damn thing.

Gunslinger Girl. It's been awhile since I watched it and this is a rough summary, but: basically girls who are dying or near death or something, this organization takes them and heals them using robotic parts, wipes their memories, trains them as super killers, and pairs them up with a male handler. The relationship between the handler and the girls all vary. Oh, and there's things about the girls slowly remembering who they are and drama.

I actually really liked the series. Art was pretty, action was fun, plot was creepy and mysterious, and it wasn't super slow like a lot of anime are.

This is making it sound more base then it is.

It's basically an exploration of the nature of filial vs romantic love and how easily they're intertwined, the interpersonal relationships of outsiders, and the fragility of youth.

At least the first series.

Can't speak for the manga, and the second season isn't nearly up to snuff.

OP, uh, at least you could have mirrored worse handler/girl right?

Oh yeah, definitely a complicated intricate series with a lot of interesting exploration of various themes.

Sorry I left that out. I was just going for a quick basic overall of the plot. But definitely it's more complicated than what I said up there.

Jose is Henrietta's handler and she is definitely at least borderline in love with him, at least to the extent she can be since she is still mentally about like, 10 or so? Not sure exact age.

Jose also has issues over a sister who died young and even he realizes he uses Henrietta as a replacement and so he spoils her and is generally much nicer to her than most of the other handers are to their cyborg partners.
