I liked some of her songs until I heard the Ur So Gay one and ever since then I just... ugh.

Yes. That one too, but UR So Gay specifically made me unable to see her as anything but an immature fourteen year old bopping around like, "look at me aren't I so edgy and cool?"

I honestly have no issue with I Kissed a Girl because of the whole thing being autobiographical, of her sexual exploration after being raised in a conservative household growing up.

I'm no expert, but when I first heard her talk about it, it was about her (then) boyfriend having this celebrity that he's have like a "carte blanche" for having sex with if he ever met her, and Katie wanted one too, so she picked Scarlett Johanson. And no real kissing was ever involved. Anyway, it was a really weird interview which pretty much had undertones of "doing the lesbian thing because your bf thinks it's hot".

I like the song, btw, but I just don't think it's genuine at all...

I'd heard that she had kissed a female friend at a party, mostly trying to see what it was like. It's been a while since I heard it, but I've never heard your story.

Idk if I think it was genuine, but that's just what I'd read in an interview.
