Oh I know. My grandparents are German, speak German, etc., I was introduced to horrible German food at a young age, was taught German history, my aunt told me about the time she was stood up in front of the class as an example of what an "Aryan" was, slowly started to realize that my grandpa's war stories were different from the war stories of others, came out in defense of my grandpa in social studies and was sent out into the hall by a pissed-off teacher... But I would never call myself "German". I don't speak it for shit, even though I grew up hearing it, and I've never been there, let alone lived there. I might say "German" if someone asked me what my ancestry was, but...

...But I didn't, like, first learn about "Germany" on the internet.
