Have some on me!
Check out Emily Short's work! I would DEFINITELY recommend Alabaster and Glass, the two fairy tale pieces- they're short and easy to get through, but still fascinating. Galatea might be interesting to you as well.
Photopia by Adam Cadre, a true classic of the genre that most people who play IF will recognise. Although it never entered into the mainstream consciousness in the same way that Zork did, it's a highly noteworthy game.
9:05, also written by Adam Cadre. This one is a TINY game, if you just want to run through a quick but brilliant piece of interactive fiction, though, it's for you. Give it a run! (And tell me how it goes, I'd love to see your reaction to this.)
Shade by Andrew Plotkin. Short, creepy, and definitely one of those things that lingers with you long after you play it. It's hard to say anything more without spoiling the mood and what this game is like. Trust me, it's an experience.
Fail-Safe, by Jon Ingold- probably one of the most immersive pieces of interactive fiction that I've ever played where I actually bought entirely into the story that I was being presented with. Absolutely worth a try, and very easy to pick up; the parser is extremely forgiving.
And for a totally different mood- try Llama Adventure! You're a llama. Now what. (It's another puzzle IF, so if you liked that aspect of Gun Mute, I think you'll like this one too.)
I definitely have a ton more recs- and for longer games as well- but these are just really short speedy things that should be fun to try out. If you want more epic games (Lovecraftian horrors, monkhood morality tales and plague, steampunk prisons, spy versus spy games and so on), PM me! I'm a huge fan of IF and of other games as well, and I could really go on all day. If you have any particular types of games or genres of games that you like, I'd love to point you to things that could be fun to go to.
On the 'not IF but also reccing here because they're just that good' front:
IB a short horror game. It's been fully translated. Do try it out! It's hard to describe what it's like- but if you've ever tried Yume Nikki, I suppose you could call it something of a spiritual successor.
Bow Street Runner. I love this game. I could play this forever- the attention to detail, acting, plot and history- it's brilliant! It's also very interesting, and I would really highly recommend this to anyone who has an interest in murder, mystery and London's first professional police force.
Tower of Heaven, a puzzle platformer with a wonderful soundtrack and an interesting theme. It's not an easy game by any means, but I found the experience of struggling to the top very rewarding.
I may be editing these with more updates as they come to mind. But really, like I said, if you have anything in particular you're fond of, do tell me! I can give much more specific recs that way.
