This is Adventure Quest Worlds, which I suppose is meant to be a sequel of sorts to Adventure Quest. Wish I'd known AQ existed way back when! (Neopets was my jam, too.)

They're currently making a AQ 3D game as well, but I think AQ still gets updated (I only play AQW).

Haha, you are very welcome.

Is there a lot of grinding in AQW? I had an equip list set up in AQ and I'd planned out my questing patterns when I realized exactly how many hours I'd have spent doing the same quests over and over. Once that bulb was lit, I dropped AQ like burning hotcakes. No regrets though, because the experience with AQ turned me off Eve Online and WoW.

(I still go on Neopets once in a while.)

If you care a lot about being a high level, yea. :/ I haven't played EVE or WoW, so are you saying they're the same? I imagine most MMO's are to some degree, which is why I try to stick to one or two; I love them and don't regret playing them, but they can be time consuming.

Playing casually would be a lot less time consuming though. I tend to just go in for updates now that I'm the cap, but when they raise it I pretty much go in whenever, usually to do a certain percentage then quit.

Thinking about time spent on video games...is something I'd rather not do, lmao. I get why you stopped.

(I think of Neopets occasionally, and want to play. It's just I hate the thought that my old accounts aren't being used and I can't get into them, and starting over is intimidating.)

EVE isn't all that interesting until you get somewhat decent specs (decent by my books), which took two+ completely weeks in real-time to achieve (even with Enhancements and queuing the skills you want learned). WoW... I've watched enough friends play to know that I do not want to pay money to be bored. So yeah, grinding is a necessary evil in these games that I really don't care to spend so much time or money on.

Interestingly enough, RotMG is one MMO that didn't have much grinding. Last I played, it took an hour tops to reach max level and unlock all playable charas. It's the only MMO I played in the last two years. Thankfully moving to a place with crappy internet connection (massive lag) killed my interest in this game.

(I lost all but one account due to inactivity. I kinda wish my account from Y1 survived for nostalgia's sake. I shouldn't give a damn because it's just some virtual bits of zeros and ones but my ego doesn't agree. :(

I hope your accounts still exist and that you'll regain access to them again.)

WoW... I've watched enough friends play to know that I do not want to pay money to be bored. LOL. Didn't know it was so bad! But I've never seen it in action outside of a few online videos and commercials. Plus, different people, different opinions (and all that). XD

So yeah, grinding is a necessary evil in these games that I really don't care to spend so much time or money on.

I feel you. Overall...I loathe it, but still feel satisfied after I'm finished.

Didn't know this was a thing! Just 'fantasy mmo shooter' is so exciting to me. Might have to check it out. And...holy hell, that is some fast progression. Sad about your connection...I had that issue for many years. Hope you don't have to put up with it for long!

(Aww, that sucks! D:

As far as I'm concerned the time and effort it takes to level up pets, find rare items, etc, is a totally justifiable reason to be upset about losing accounts. Also...did not know that accounts could be lost due to inactivity. Mine def aren't still around then. Oh well.)

Well, maybe WoW is not so bad. I mean, my friends do enjoy it. But I realized a while back that if I find watching a game boring, even after understanding the player-player dynamics and game mechanics, I will eventually be bored when I do end up playing the game myself. And I've very little interest in WoW. It makes sense to cut the chase and just not play it altoghether, no?

But yeah, different people, different experiences, I hear ya. If you feel satisfied after a grind session, why should I tell you otherwise?

RotMG is pretty laid-back, for me. There are no level-based locks (beside the initial chara locks) and it's easy to pick up decent gear from more experienced players (gear is left behind when a chara dies and most players are generous enough to give the mid-level equip to newbies) so there is really no need to grind for gear or to unlock maps. As long as you find a few buddies to travel with and stay out of the way of monsters that are too tough for your current level (aka, die), you'll be maxed out before you know it. Some people farming for stat potions but I die often enough to not bother, so it really is a game where I don't feel the need to grind at all.

Unfortunately internet is better but still spotty. Not missing the MMOs though.

(I'm mostly over it. The Y1 account was never registered with an email address so I didn't know about the change to inactive accounts. IIRC right now accounts are deleted after 2 yrs of inactivity. Both password and correct birthdate is required to log back into an "abandoned" account.)
