Is this a thing now? Christ, people are weird. I mean, it's one thing to know your heritage (Which here in the United States can get complicated), it's another to claim you still belong to that country. My family is Czech and Irish. (Both sides are "pure", whatever that means, so I'm a 50/50 mix) That doesn't make me Czech or Irish. I don't speak Czech or Irish, I barely understand either country's politics, and I've never been to either place. (Though I would like to) Only thing we kept were superstitions and Catholicism.

Anon, why don't you just calmly explain that you find this a little pushy and weird? Even if they don't listen, it could plant the seeds in their head to make them stop it soon.
