Please tell me I was not alone in laughing at how many Korra secrets there were in a row.

I don't even watch it and I was like "I'm scrolling...and scrolling...and scrolling...are they all about Korra?"

If we account for all the trolls that were banned or that were too opportunistic or stubborn to follow us to dw, we're doing pretty darn well!

Day 2 of our creature-feature special! Yesterday we had pitbulls, today we have... mini-cthulhus cuttlefish and squid. Highly intelligent, colourful and also very interesting, they are sadly more often than not regarded as mostly good for calamari rings. As with everything, there's a relevant xkcd for them.
joltymcjolterson: (06)

They're very squiddy. Also, spider warning.

Meet the Eresus spider genus! They're from the family of velvet spiders and more commonly known as Ladybird spiders. I think it should be pretty obvious why.

It would be more helpful to put the subject in the first post of the tier where it gets seen. Any subjects in the other tiers aren't visible. Sorry, but I don't find cuttlefish or squid cute.

So many Kora secrets. It makes me want to watch the series although my logical brain tells me to wait for the series to finish so I wouldn't have to wait for new episodes every week or suffer through long hiatuses like I had to do for ATLAB.

Question regarding "The Legend of Korra"

(Anonymous) 2012-06-17 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only seen one episode of the original show, and it didn't capture my interest enough to make me want to watch more. But so far everything I've heard about Korra makes it seem like something I would love. Do you have to have a lot of knowledge of ATLA to understand what's going on, or will a quick read-through of the Wikipedia article be enough?

Re: Question regarding "The Legend of Korra"

(Anonymous) 2012-06-17 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I think wikipedia should be enough. You may want to head over the the avatar wiki to skim through the articles about aang, katara and toph too though

No, I don't think so. It's pretty self-contained and good about explaining the basic mythology (which isn't all that complicated tbh). When the show does bring up references, they are explained, so about the only thing you'll miss is the feeling of being fanserviced.

A quick skim of the wikipedia entry should be enough. I never watched ATLA before LoK and whenever they say something I don't get I just google it, and I haven't had to google things all that much.

Honestly, anon, watch the original show.

Once I saw one episode of it on TV (The King of Omashu, for anyone wondering) and thought it was terribly kiddie and not very interesting. I passed up on the show for another year. My loss.

When I was finally convinced to do a proper watchthrough, it took me most of season 1 to really get interested, and it wasn't until somewhere in season 2 that I had to admit to myself I completely loved it and was hooked. Since then my love for it has only grown. (It isn't that the early eps are bad, I love them too now. It's just that I didn't have enough context to really get where it was going and I wasn't attached to the characters yet.)

It's an amazing show, but it starts off seeming a bit kiddie and dumb. You really just have to give it a chance, watch it in order, let the context build.

Korra could theoretically be watched without the original series, but I think it will mean more to you and resonate better if you've watched all of the original show. I seriously doubt you will regret it.

I don't think you need to watch ATLA to understand LOK. There are a few small things which might confuse you, but you'll have no problem understanding the storyline and enjoying the characters.

I think in general you'd have more appreciation for it if you had the background - the mythology, worldbuilding, etc. from ATLA really make the LOK story richer imo. But it isn't a necessity.

V-Dex project?

Is it as fun as it looks?

I was personally more interested in Pokefarm, until I found out about the asshole admin.

It's a lot of clicking, but can be fun if you've got some time to waste. It's free, so join and see for yourself. I found after a few days I was over all the clicking, but some people seem to like it otherwise it wouldn't still be going on.

Lots of Legend of Korra secrets today. :'(

Sad anon is sad, because those bastards of Nick hadn't even established a release date for her country, and everyone else is having a squeefest in fandom but her, who's struggling with avoiding spoilers. ;_;

Dammit Nickelodeon!!

I think this is one of those circumstances where no one would think less of you for pirating the episodes.

...Unless that's a thing that is actively being monitored and prosecuted in your country, in which case, disregard what I said in the paragraph above. >_>
