It's actually Basco's natural voice and he's an adult, but yeah, I'm with you OP. He was TERRIBLY miscast, and I had to stop myself from bursting into laughter whenever he opened his mouth.

Yeah, I had the same reaction too.

I kinda wrote myself into a corner with this, because I wrote a character, liked the name I gave them and opted to use that as my login on a website and that became my online handle. Now the character feels like a self-insert sue, when it was kinda the reverse and I poached on my own character's name.

/sigh, first world problems

SPOILER FOR BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN?

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-06-24 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
I've pretty much had the entire move re-enacted out to me but still every time I steel myself up to watch it I totally chicken out.

Dogs dying and death by homophobia are by far my two biggest movie no-nos. Everything else I seem to handle just fine. I'm known for nerves of steel... just not those two things.
Edited (true story, I totally typed bareback mountain) 2012-06-24 03:08 (UTC)

I am the same in regards to the first part of your comment: I never listen to lyrics individually unless I really get into the song. I just like the total package. Ties into why I love foreign language music so much, even when I don't understand the language (prime example being Edith Piaf--the manner in which she sings is the best, not just the sound of her voice but the way she uses it...what a genius).

I go with he just bleached his skin, as an easier way to fool everyone/his brother.

I cried when Tarrok killed himself/Nuatok :(

this old fandom I was in innards ago

Um. Did autocorrect get you of were there really a lot of entrails in your fandom?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-24 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's not just indigenous peoples - he's made some very basic mistakes about places that well. You can hardly classify them as 'indigenous' over all [not that either group is better or worse, of course. Just that he doesn't really seem to do all the research for *any place/group* that he probably should before hand.]

I don't know what that means! I want to be in on the in-joke!

Oh, Glee. Got it.

cloud_riven: Cute cigarrette box and coffee cup, with smiley faces, holding hands! Adorable! (bff)

Yup. I saw the typos after I posted the comment, but I just can't bring myself to edit out such beauty. Oh, Swype!
Edited (thought I should make sure to acknowledge that there've been more than a single error in my posts lately.) 2012-06-24 03:13 (UTC)

Well, considering that they pretty much admitted that Asami is based on Lust's design from Fullmetal Alchemist, that wouldn't surprise me much either.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-24 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Actually it was a friend making a bad joke, in badly used italian...and it ended up sticking, for better or worse.

Now, my turn - why the sudden question? [And any story behind your username?]

(Anonymous) 2012-06-24 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't he also try to prove on QI that women weren't as funny as men?

hmm no.

Sorry, this was me - I'm not actually logged in so it slipped through.

I know, all non-whites are adventurous and exotic~

(Anonymous) 2012-06-24 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
^ I second this suggestion. If it helps, Stephen King in the series is not an OMGlookatMEEE! self-insert, he's actually kind of a dopey ass. And one of the Fictional!King's scenes is beautiful and sad and wonderful and painful all at the same time, I think one of the better things Mr. King's written.

Out of curiosity, which book did you stop at? I can't imagine stopping after the end of Wolves...

I thought it was Brendan Fraser, LMAO

I am not a fan of animal death in movies, but it doesn't prevent me from watching.

I don't think I have any hard and fast movie backbuttons, which makes it harder to avoid movies that are going to disturb me. It's sort of case by case with me.

(hahahahah typo)

I know what you mean. :-( I used to be the biggest Stephen Fry fan, but I've pretty much fallen out of love with him because of the comments he's made

(Anonymous) 2012-06-24 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I think they go to your email, though? c:>

(Anonymous) 2012-06-24 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Not the OP, but I get where she's coming from, somewhat.

I'm sure there are plenty of fandoms (and mainstream media, of course) where het pairings are popular. But not everybody is able to just switch fandoms at will, or participate in several at once.

One canon will tend to hijack my brain at any given time, and it usually won't let go for years. I can enjoy watching or reading other things, but they just won't have the same appeal and I won't have any desire to get into fannish activities for them. So I'm pretty much stuck with whatever problems that canon has until something else comes along and grabs me. I could get into other fandoms anyway, but the whole purpose of fandom is to have fun, so if you aren't, there's really not much point.

Saying 'Oh, there's plenty of places where you can find het/vanilla/etc.' to someone whose mind works that way is like saying 'Oh, there's plenty of places where you can find cute shoes' to someone who wears a woman's size 14 wide. Yes, the material is out there, but most of it doesn't fit.

"Habile Lapin" = Clever Rabbit

It's a moniker a friend gave me years ago, for many mysterious and French reasons.

As for the sudden question...not a clue. I was just wondering, because it seemed such a random assortment of words.
