Dorks unite! I love making up my own stories to songs or trying to find some different interpretation to them, and this one is no exception. How does the meaning of the song change if you assume different things about the characters?

That reminds me of Mindy Kalling's idea about how "Jack and Diane" should have a second act where Jack gets drafted and shipped off to Vietnam.
