This is true. However, as you can see I originally replied to the user who said the movie made her cry -- and went on to blame/thank the director for it. Which bugged me, since I feel the original author (who came up with all the sad stuff!) should've been blamed/thanked.

Yes, and my point is that since the media are completely different, it's far more likely that the director's presentation is what made her cry, not the writer's.
