I'm going to go with 'cry very easily' because given the Game of Thrones universe, I find the idea of someone who bawls every few scenes but still can't stop watching to be kinda funny.

Okay, fine, 4th option: something about this one scene was the only thing that could touch OP's heart - none of the other dying pets, family or friends, acts of love, acts of heroism, tragedy or heartwarming struck him/her quite as much.

I still prefer the book's version but overall the scene pleased me because GRRM himself wrote it and it shows that he views Sansan in a sympathetic light at least. It bodes well for a future reunion in the books.

I do love their dynamic, but I'm worried about how shippy the show is making them. D: They've made so many changes; I really hope they don't Go There to any serious degree.

So, I've just started reading the series and it's been slow going.

(Lots of talking and I'm pretty creeped out by the treatment of the females even though I am aware it would be 'accurate' for the 'times'. i.e Dany and her brother tweaking her nipples + marriage)

Does it get better? Or is it filled with similar acts throughout and should I just give up because my stomach cannot take that in frequency.

Oh, anon, I'm sorry to say, but (in my opinion) it doesn't get better. I don't know how to do spoiler cut here, so I'll just warn you, there will be spoilers (some for major events) from all five books below, listing some of the stuff I found hard to take.

This is just the stuff off the top of my head. So yeah, it's pretty bad. I can just barely handle it, because I do love the story and the characters, many of whom are kickass girls who are all set to fuck stuff up in the next books, but their treatments is really upsetting at times and wears me out. I had to put the book down for a while when my example from Cersei's story happened, I was so angry.

... I feel weird saying this after the previous comment, but... I almost stopped watching the show after a few eps (I watched the first season before I bought the books and read them) but I decided to continue with the show in hopes that Dany will one day rule the world and while there is a lot of skeevy stuff going around, there's also a lot of women being pretty damn awesome despite the crappy world/time they live in.
