Idk. I can see the problem if people only tattoo stuff on themselves that's like, spur of the moment "I LOVE THIS SO MUCH RIGHT NOW AND I WILL LOVE IT FOREVER" crap, but it doesn't always have to be that way? I think that if you get a tattoo, it should be about something that's made you happy and has a lot of positive memories attached to it, aside from the thing itself. So maybe you're not going to love the Avengers* forever, but you might remember loving the Avengers and how much fun you had with it, and even as your tattoo isn't so much YAY AVENGERS anymore it might become a celebration of the memories you had in fandom and the skills you developed and the friends you made, and that can be meaningful, too. Or maybe you'll feel like "wow I was kind of a silly fanbrat", but also see that it's part of who you were, and appreciate that you have some tangible reminders of that time in your life?

I think if you're overly self-critical, or can't even imagine not loving your fandom as much as you do now, maybe you shouldn't get fandom tattoos, but if you're mature enough that you can imagine the tattoo still being meaningful to you even after you're not as into your fandom anymore, then what is the problem?

* just using an example of a popular fandom, I actually kind of hate the Avengers
