Ace Attorney fans seem to be pretty chill about shipping preferences, from my experience. I ship the weirdest shit hardcore and no one bats an eye, usually.

Also, if you're unapologetic and confident about it (or if you just act like you are, I guess that's enough), then I'm sure your friend won't give you flak for it or judge you for it. It's usually only if you act like it's something to be embarrassed of that people will respond accordingly and be weird about it. Just be casual. Shipping's really not a big deal anyway, so there's no need to turn it into something to worry about.

That pairing's actually got a decent fan base. iirc, I thought it was actually more popular than that teal choice because of the lack of incest (although adoptive). could be completely wrong obviously, but it's still pretty common.

I hope you get to chat with your friend about it though, and that they're the chill kind of shipper. might be likely :)

It's not an unwarranted fear; my sister makes fun of me because I ship Maya/Edgeworth like burning (since she's super into Phoenix/Edgeworth). Still, like what you like and don't be ashamed. Neither Maya/Edgeworth nor Phoenix/Edgeworth are actually canon, so it's not like one ship is more legitimate (even still, that doesn't even matter at all).

It's a really good ship, though, so I wouldn't be embarrassed one bit.

It's just a pairing though...even if she doesn't like it, that shouldn't ruin your friendship. She can say, "Ew" and move on. (And if it does indeed ruin your friendship, you're better off without her. Sadly.)

That said, she'll probably just make a face and you'll go back to talking about other aspects of the games.

Aha, I probably need to start over completely then finish, so I can't really agree, but considering what the other games are like, I can imagine. Love the last cases! (Even if they sometimes make me want to pull my hair out.)

More of a Maya/Phoenix fan myself, it's just a pairing. Unless you're overly excited in that way that annoys people not overly excited, your friend probably won't care or won't tell you, if she doesn't like it.
