Oh, ew. For shame anon, for shame.

No, but seriously, that's a weird life goal. I mean, stalking people just seems like a lot of work.

As the other anon said, these people are the paparazzi. And yes, it's shameful to want to work for/with them.

However, I would like to say that the people in the TMZ newsroom don't seem to be the ones stalking anyone. From what I can tell, they're the ones who employ the stalkers, and then post the stalkers' tips on the website. And they tend to discuss it around the newsroom. It looks like they get along really well and have a lot of fun there.

(Of course, that could all be lies for the camera.)

I don't think there's really a difference between paying stalkers, posting tips for stalkers, and actually stalking. It's all pretty jerky.

I've only seen the show once, but it seemed to me the people in the chairs were some of the people actually stalking and running after celebs and asking them questions as though they're super good friends. It's all very skeevy.

I mean, I get it, they look like they're having fun and are all friends and everything, but I just think you can find that in a lot of other jobs and workplaces that do it without the questionable morals.

If it's any consolation, TMZ is actually on the "nice" side of the paps/gossip sites. They have a strict no harassment policy, i.e. if one of their photographers gets combative and rude with a celeb, they are instantly fired. 99% of the stuff on their show is a good natured poking fun at celebs and themselves. They aren't mean spirited like Perez and tend to be on the side of the celebs instead of trying to tear them down.

TMZ is also probably the most reputable of all the gossip sites, where they avoid posting stories that are just fanfiction or without solid sources.

I think the people who work the newsroom/on the show are just the ones who google-fu info and take tips. But I agree with you, it does look like it would be a fun, upbeat place to work.
