I've only been in fandom for like a month, but I've seen some of those fics OP might be talking fics, and yeah, they were mostly OOC...that, or, it would be Tony being completely batshit from an outside POV but from his POV his actions made sense - which often wouldn't be revealed until much later in the fic, so OP may not be reading that far. What these writers missed is that in the movies, the audience could usually see some sense to Tony's actions, however outlandish they were, even if other characters couldn't because they weren't getting all the information we were.

Also seen moron!Thor and naive!Steve...though interestingly enough, I've seen more fics "averting/inverting/parodying/whathaveyou" naive!Steve than actual naive!Steve!fics. o.O Thor tends to be a bit of a hit and miss, characterization-wise.
