I have no idea why Sons of Anarchy has pretty much no fandom and almost nobody watches it. It's one of the best written shows out there at the moment. But I suppose people are put off by the fact that it's about bikers and assume it must suck? I don't know.

I feel the same way about Breaking Bad- fabulous show with complex characters, small fandom.

I like SoA, but I only watched one or so seasons because, for some reason, it just wasn't compelling enough for me to continue. I might try to pick it up again, though.

I think Breaking Bad and other shows like it have small fandoms because the source material already pretty fulfilling and is intimidating to work with. Plus the actors don't tend to appeal to most of the shippers.

edit: I want to say I read a SOA & Breaking Bad crossover with Jesse/Jax slash that was pretty good but I'm pulling up a blank when I try to remember where.

I agree about the intimidation factor. I was rewatching BB the other day and started shipping Jesse/Gale hard and wanted to write a fixer fic where... that thing with Gale doesn't happen and he Jesse have angsty yet adorable times cooking. But, then I felt I could never ever even get Holly in character, so yeah. *shrug*

And, the subjects and plots of BB and SoA are really heavy. I think a lot of people are not looking for a hobby that is super serious and depressing. I'm certainly not really eager to write any serious, complex drama.,

Also, if you remember that fic, I'd love to read it!

I love Sons of Anarchy so much, but I only started watching it because it was on Netflix and I was like "tattooed guys, that should be fun". I was pleased to find it's actually well-written with compelling storylines, complex protagonists and antagonists, and has a great handle on exploring what exactly constitutes morality. I watched the four seasons on Netflix within a week, I was so hooked.

I just don't get why it isn't getting more attention in the world of fandom. There's plenty of almost evil characters technically on the "good" side, like Tigger, plenty of guys to slash, like Juice and even Chibbs, accents galore with the faction in Ireland.

I'm confused why this is ignored and other, less deserving shows have huge fandoms.

I know! It sucks. There should be a better fandom- there is hardly any fic! Some of its decent, but there's just not enough. I get a lot from following SOA folks on twitter, and watching WTF Sutter on YouTube.

I love this show, and I had a hankering for Chibs/Juice fic last season but couldn't really find any. I'm really satisfied with the show itself, and with geeking out about it with my brothers and sister-in-laws and a few LJ friends, though it'd be awesome if there were a fandom.
