You say you want to write good fic, but if you never post it you never, ever will. Fics are written for the fans who read them, not just for yourself, and if you never let the fans read your fic, comment on what they like and what they don't, you will never truly understand what it takes to write a good fic. You need to put your work out there for others to see. There will probably be judging words, harsh words, but honestly, unless your writing doesn't make any sense, there will be people to cheer you on, people who will force you to get better. Be brave.

Not necessarily. Some people are writing for themselves and then for whatever reason sharing it.

I don't really understand that outlook myself, but some people do have it. And IMO it's all good.

Then I must be doing it wrong. I write fic because I get an idea that amuses me and I like to write it out. It's a fun hobby. I never post it or share it with anyone, and honestly half the time after I'm done writing it I usually delete it after a week or so.

Imo, that's totally fine. People write for all sorts of reasons and I definitely don't think you're doing something "wrong". Lots of people write for themselves, lots of people write for others, and lots of people write for some combination of the two.

So, what does that mean for someone like me who writes and stores several fics?
