Yep! There's even speculation (not sure of original source, but I've seen it here and there) that Fury lied about Coulson being dead to motivate the team.

To be honest, I fully expected him to reappear by the end of The Avengers... I stopped buying it when Maria told Fury that Coulson's cards weren't in his pocket. (Coulson is going to be so mad about that)

Coulson might cry over that one. Imagine how long it took him to find those damn things, not even taking into account how much they must have cost! And now they're ruined!

Fury better be putting some SHIELD resources to work to replace those things.

There's also a theory that Coulson will turn out to have been Vision all along (due to Fury's line about losing his "one good eye".. vision, etc.). Which I personally love to little tiny pieces and it is my favorite theory.

Also a cool theory, and might mean the appearance of Wanda later, which I would love so very, very much, with all my fangirl heart.

omg yeeeesss. :D I love Wanda, she's one of my absolute favorite Avengers characters! I really hope they bring her in... once they get the X-Men rights back, anyway.

But if they classify Wanda as an Avenger and not an X-Men character, which she really counts as both, can't they use her? Because they haven't yet in the X-Men movies. We did see Pietro in a cameo, but not Wanda.

When they buy the rights to these things, they buy the rights to a lot of ancilary stuff.

Same reason they couldn't use skrulls even though FF movie didn't actually use them, Sony has the rights.

I'm pretty sure they can't drag out any mutants right now, at least not buy name. Odds are good if they got Pietro and Magneto, they got Wanda directly anyway, sadly.

What does Marvel have to do to get X-Men back? Buy the rights? Or is the deal like the one Sony made, where it goes back after X number of years?

TBH, I didn't trust Marvel with their own characters for awhile there. But now I think they could actually make a great X-Men movie. Especially after the mess that Fox made of X3 after everything went to hell.

It's done that way for sequels and what not. Like, they didn't use wanda when they had the first x-men movie in mind, but they might want to use it for #2 or whatever, so they make sure ALL the x-men properties they can think of are covered in the initial deal.

I believe the terms of this deal deal are something like "if we go x years without using it, marvel gets it back"

But they keep making more movies. They got another wolverine coming out, so marvel doesnt' get them back. They'd either have to work out a deal with fox or pay them money to buy it back outright... and fox would charge a ridiculous amount at this point. Probably the kinda price you refuse on principle even if you can afford it.

Oh Marvel, you made a deal with the devil, didn't you? Not that I would expect a company to just give up a cash cow they bought fair and square, and I loved the first two X-Men movies, but still. I would rather get a chance to get Storm and Wanda some more screen time.

That makes sense from a legal standpoint though, to get all your ducks in a row.

Yep. Obviously, if marvel had the money and means to make their own movies at the time they made the deal, we'd have seen a very different x-men. but it's still making money for fox now, so we won't be seeing wanda in avengers anytime soon I fear.

Wasp is probably okay, but I bet they can't call her a mutant.

Allegedly -- and I've just heard this around, it may not be 100% true -- Fox told them that they could use Wanda only if they never mentioned her being a mutant, changed her powers so she's not a mutant, and never mentioned Magneto or any other X-Men character in relation to her. Which... kind of means "they can't us Wanda" because if you take away Pietro and Magneto and her powers, you have a completely different character. :\

I like that theory a lot better than LMD, and just a bit better than "they somehow turn him into Vision afterwards." I want him to still be around, but I still want it to have been him going against Loki with a BFG and a polite smile.

Suddenly. New headcanon. I would LOVE to see Vision(and Wanda, but since she's Magneto's daughter, isn't she technically stuck with the rest of the X-Men franchise?).

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. This is kind of my headcanon, until told otherwise.
