Talented person that puts in effort: Gets awesome.
Not very talented person that puts in no effort: Goes nowhere.
Not very talented person that puts in effort: Can get pretty damn awesome if they keep at it, but will require much more trial and error than the talented person, because:
Talent: A sort of instinctive grasp on how to do something
Talent =/= magical awesome crafting skills
Talent without effort: Wasted potential
Talent =/= automatic skill
Effort and intelligent effort and educated effort and consistent effort can make you very skilled, you're just starting at a farther point than the innately talented person and have to work extra hard to advance...
To make a strange sort of videogame analogy:
Let's pretend that art is a platformer game (the ones where you jump and run from one block to another, if you're not familiar).
The innately talented person started with the skill called "double jump", which enables them to jump farther than the standard jump.
A person who doesn't have that same innate talent has to go kill 10 enemies to earn that skill, and then can proceed like the innately talented person would.
You have to put in more effort in that initial stretch, but by goodness, you can totally do it. It's not impossible! Never believe that you can't do it!
